France is not only an option if you speak French. More and more bachelor's courses are taught partly or fully in English, and public tuition for non-EU students is set nationally. The hard part is the process: one catalogue to search, one platform you must use from India, and several separate fees that are easy to miss.
Where do you find English-taught bachelor's courses in France?
Start with the Campus France Taught in English catalogue, the search tool run by the French government agency for international students. According to Campus France, grandes écoles and private institutions offered English-taught programmes before 2015, and more and more universities are now following them.
Search by level and subject. Read each listing closely: the catalogue includes courses taught wholly or partially in English, and a course that switches to French later is a different plan.
For every course you shortlist, note three things from the institution's own page:
whether it is a public university course or a private school's own bachelor programme
the English test and score it asks for
the yearly fee for non-EU students
If you are unsure which English test to take, our guide on whether you need IELTS or TOEFL after Class 12 explains how to check.
Which platform do Indian students use to apply?
India is one of 75 countries and territories where students must use the Études en France procedure to enrol in French higher education. The platform manages your enrolment steps up to the visa request. Campus France India says the Études en France fee rose from ₹18,500 to ₹20,000 on 1 August 2026.
How you apply inside it depends on the course:
First-year licence at a public university: this uses the preliminary admission request (DAP). For 2027-28 entry, Campus France lists applications opening on 1 October 2026 and closing on 15 December 2026, university replies by 30 April 2027, and student replies by 31 May 2027.
Parcoursup: the same page says non-EU students use it if they passed the French baccalauréat at a French lycée abroad, or if they are applying to selective first-year tracks such as IUTs, STS or preparatory classes.
Private schools and grandes écoles: many have their own application forms, so check each programme page. Whichever route admits you, your Études en France file is what leads to the visa.
The IF India application guide says you can choose up to three first-year bachelor programmes at public universities, that bachelor applications run from October to mid-December, and that you are then called for an interview.
How much does an English-taught bachelor's in France cost?
These are the official figures to check before you shortlist:
Public tuition: non-EU students pay €2,902 a year for a bachelor's programme in 2026-27, according to Campus France.
Private tuition: the same page says private institutions, especially business schools, usually charge about €6,000 to €18,000 or more a year.
CVEC: the student and campus life contribution is €105 for 2026-27, according to etudiant.gouv.fr.
Proof of funds: the French government's Service Public page says a foreign student must show resources of at least €877.50 a month.
Visa validation: the same page says you pay €100 when you validate your long-stay student visa (VLS-TS) after arriving in France.
What does the first year add up to?
Here is a worked example for one year at a public university, using only the official figures above from Campus France, etudiant.gouv.fr and Service Public:
Tuition: €2,902
CVEC: €105
VLS-TS validation: €100
Funds to show for 12 months: 12 × €877.50 = €10,530
Total: €13,637, plus the ₹20,000 Études en France fee
For a private school charging €6,000 to €18,000, the same sum comes to about €16,735 to €28,735 or more. Neither total includes flights, the visa application fee, health cover, a rent deposit or the cost of English tests. Our guide to estimating the cost of living abroad shows how to price rent, food and transport for a specific city.
A shortlist checklist for students and parents
Work through this for each course before you pay any fees:
Is it taught fully in English for all years?
Is it a public licence or a private bachelor, and what does the school say about recognition?
What is the non-EU fee on the institution's own page for 2026-27?
Does it go through DAP, or do you apply to the school directly?
Which deadline applies, and does it fit your Class 12 board exam calendar?
Can your family show the €877.50 a month that Service Public lists, for the whole stay?

If your shortlist is in engineering or science and you want to revise school topics before you start, the Fermi Concept Library has a lesson for every concept in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computing.
Your next step: open the catalogue, shortlist five courses, and check each against the official Campus France dates.
