If you want a B.E. or B.Tech seat in a Rajasthan college, you do not sit a separate state entrance exam. The Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP) ranks you on scores you already have, then allots seats over several online counselling rounds.
Who runs REAP and what does it cover?
REAP is run by the Centre for Electronic Governance (CEG), Jaipur, which the official REAP 2026 portal describes as established by the Government of Rajasthan. It is the centralised admission process for first-year B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Plan courses in government autonomous colleges, government universities and private technical institutes, according to the REAP-2026 Information Booklet.
For B.E./B.Tech, you need to have passed Class 12 with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in the qualifying subjects taken together, the booklet says.
What is the REAP merit list based on?
The B.E./B.Tech rank list is built in strict priority order, according to the REAP-2026 Information Booklet:
Candidates under sports quota Category-A.
Rank in JEE Main 2026, only for candidates with a JEE Main score of 20 percentile or more.
Class 12 percentile, for everyone not covered by the JEE Main tier.
Percentage in a state-approved D.Voc in Engineering and Technology.
Your Class 12 percentile here is not your board percentage. REAP works it out from the number of REAP applicants from your own board, and boards other than RBSE and CBSE are treated as equivalent to CBSE. If two candidates tie, the older one ranks higher, then the one who applied earlier. For how NTA calculates your JEE Main percentile, see our explainer on JEE Main percentile normalisation.
A worked example
Three students apply for B.Tech:
Aditi: JEE Main 2026 at the 68th percentile, 81% in RBSE Class 12.
Kabir: JEE Main 2026 at the 22nd percentile, 74% in CBSE Class 12.
Sana: no JEE Main score, 96% in RBSE Class 12.
Aditi and Kabir both clear the 20-percentile bar, so both sit in the JEE Main tier, ordered by JEE rank: Aditi, then Kabir. Sana goes into the Class 12 tier, below both, even though her board marks are the highest.
The takeaway: clearing the 20th percentile in JEE Main puts you above everyone ranked only on Class 12. Board marks still decide eligibility and are your fallback. If a few JEE Main chapters are holding you back, the Fermi Problem Library has worked problems with a step-by-step solver that explains the reasoning rather than printing an answer.
How are REAP seats split between quotas?
On state seats, the REAP-2026 Information Booklet lists vertical reservation of 16% for SC, 12% for ST, 21% for non-creamy layer OBC, 10% for EWS and 5% for non-creamy layer MBC. Horizontal reservation then sets aside 30% of seats for women within each category, 5% for persons with disabilities and 3% for dependants of ex-servicemen.
Out of Rajasthan candidates get 15% of AICTE-approved intake in private engineering institutions, self-finance courses in government autonomous colleges and government universities, the booklet says. Seats left over from that quota merge into the open category for Rajasthan candidates. If your Rajasthan domicile status is unclear, read our guide to domicile certificates for admission before you register.
What are the steps in REAP counselling?
The REAP-2026 Information Booklet sets out this sequence for B.E./B.Tech:
Pay the registration fee of Rs 885 (Rs 750 plus 18% GST). It is non-refundable.
Fill the online application and upload your photo, signature, mark sheets and certificates.
Fill the College Choice form with as many choices as are available to you, then press Submit/Lock. Unlocking costs Rs 50 plus 18% GST per request.
Follow the allotment rounds: a mock round; a Tuition Fee Waiver round with two upward movements; a round for out of Rajasthan candidates and some special categories, with one upward movement; then main counselling for Rajasthan candidates with two upward movement rounds.
Report online after your allotment: pay the seat acceptance fee of Rs 10,000, then upload the fee receipt, allotment letter and signed document checklist. The allotted college verifies them.
After counselling ends, report in person to your final college with original documents. Without this physical verification, your admission is treated as cancelled.
Order matters more than length. Our piece on choosing between college and branch helps you rank options honestly.
What should you check before you lock your choices?
Your JEE Main score: is it at or above the 20th percentile? That decides your tier.
Category certificates: the REAP-2026 Information Booklet says an OBC certificate should not be issued more than one year before registration opens, and it accepted EWS certificates for 2024-25, 2025-26 or 2026-27.
Bookmark the official portal and type it yourself. When we checked in October 2026, at least one old REAP-named web address redirected to an unrelated site.
The 2026 cycle opened registration on 13 May and closed it on 12 June, per the official REAP 2026 portal; next year's dates will appear there.
