You can't get into the exam hall without your admit card. The best time to spot a mistake on it is the day you download it, not the morning of the exam. Here is a checklist for a JEE Main or NEET-UG admit card, the documents that go with it, and what to do if something is wrong.
The rules below come from NTA's information bulletins for JEE Main 2027 and NEET-UG 2026. Rules change between years, so check the bulletin for your own session too.
What should you check on your JEE Main or NEET admit card?
Keep your application confirmation page next to the admit card and go line by line. Both the JEE (Main) 2027 Information Bulletin and the NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin say an admit card is issued provisionally: getting one does not mean NTA has accepted your eligibility.
Name and personal details. Your name, parents' names, date of birth, gender, category and PwD status should match your confirmation page letter for letter.
Photo and signature. They should be clear and the same ones you uploaded. The extra photos you carry must also be the same as your application photo.
Exam, date and shift. Make sure the card is for this exam and this session. When NTA held a NEET-UG re-exam on 21 June 2026, its public notice said the 3 May admit card was not valid for entry.
Centre address. Find it on a map now. The NEET bulletin suggests visiting the centre a day before.
Reporting and gate-closing times. Under the JEE Main 2027 bulletin, gates close 30 minutes before the exam and you should report 2 hours early. The NEET-UG 2026 bulletin allowed no entry after 1:30 pm for the 2 pm paper.
The instructions pages. Read every page. For JEE Main you carry a clear A4 printout with the self-declaration (undertaking) filled in. For NEET-UG you paste a 4 x 6 inch colour photo with a white background on the proforma that comes with the admit card.
The JEE Main bulletin also asks you to print at least four copies. Keep one with a parent.
What documents do you carry with the admit card?
For JEE Main 2027: the printed admit card with self-declaration, 2 extra passport-size photos, and one original, valid photo ID such as an Aadhaar card, passport, school ID or Class 12 board admit card with photo.
For NEET-UG 2026: the printed admit card with your passport photo pasted on it, one more passport photo for the attendance sheet, the postcard-size photo on the proforma, and an original, valid photo ID such as an Aadhaar card, passport or PAN card. Without these, you are not allowed to sit the exam. PwD candidates also bring the certificate their bulletin specifies, if it applies to them.
What should you do if there is a mistake on your admit card?
Both bulletins give the same rule: if your details, photo or signature on the admit card don't match your confirmation page, you may call the NTA helpline straight away, between 10 am and 5 pm. You then sit the exam with the admit card you already downloaded, and NTA corrects its records later. So a spelling mistake is not a reason to skip the exam.
The JEE Main 2027 bulletin lists the helpline as 011-40759000 / 69227700 and the email as jeemain@nta.ac.in. For NEET-UG 2026, the bulletin gave the email as neetug2026@nta.ac.in. Use the contacts in your current bulletin.
Some things are not mismatches. The JEE Main bulletin says NTA may allot a city you didn't choose, its decision on city and centre is final, and requests to change application details after the correction window closes are not considered. Then the job is planning the journey.
A script for the call or email:
"Hello, my name is (full name), application number (number). I'm calling about my (exam, year and session) admit card. The (field) shows (what it says), but my confirmation page shows (what it should say). Please record this so it can be corrected. Do I need to send anything else?"
Note the date, time and what you were told. If you email, attach screenshots of both documents.
A three-step plan for the days before the exam
The day you download: run the six-point checklist, print the copies, and report any mismatch the same day.
A few days before: put your ID, photos and certificates in one folder and plan your route. For JEE Main, go through the buttons and review flags on the computer-based test screen and try one of NTA's official mock tests.
The night before: check the folder once, set two alarms and go to bed. Here is why sleep before an exam beats an all-nighter.
Once the paperwork is sorted, the days left are for revision. If you're not sure where to start, Fermi's AI tutor can work out what you already know and build a plan for the session, so you sit down to a clear next step.
